We are making AN ASTOUNDING DIFFERENCE....Thanks to those reporting jet noise to SFO, writing and calling our elected officials… On Saturday, January 16th a gathering of groups fighting the flight paths over Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties imposed by the FAA’s Nextgen program met to develop a regional response to find reasonable solutions to this problem.
On Thursday, January 21st Anna Eshoo convened a meeting with leaders from Save Our Skies and Quiet Skies Santa Cruz Mountains to discuss our progress with the FAA. She and her neighboring two congressional members, Sam Farr and Jackie Spiers, have been working with community organizations for months to seek a resolution to our problem.
She thanked the group for our work on all levels, neighborhood outreach, political, aviation technical, social outreach and persistent noise reporters. for coming together to make a strong case as a community. This will make it possible for her and other elected officials to push hard on the FAA for a solution. Most importantly, she pointed out that constant submission of noise complaints to the San Francisco Airport Noise Abatement office is documenting the severity of the problem. Since last March the office has received more than 170,000 complaints from local residents.
There will be another meeting with the FAA in February to review the group’s plans and the initiative made by the FAA, Sam Farr and Ms. Eshoo will be in attendance. Also in attendance were Santa Cruz County Supervisors Bruce McPherson and John Leopold as well as the vice mayor of Scotts Valley, Randy Johnson.
Congresswoman Eshoo made it clear that this may take some time to resolve but that we were seeking, with her office, the most expeditious approaches. She is totally dedicated to this solution as it affects the entire 18th district.
